Famous place greatly favored as the first sculpture park in Ulsan

There is a museum offering the biography and achievement of Master Seo Deokchul, who wrote the children’s song ‘Snowflakes’, in Seodeokchul Park. This sculpture park has emerged as a new tourist attraction representing Ulsan because it is the first sculpture park in Ulsan and provides the opportunity to appreciate a variety of sculptures by leading artists in Korea. Moreover, family visitors also favor this park because of its good facilities for picnics including a trail, fountain, rest area and playground. 600 Boksan-dong, Jung-gu, Ulsan

Seo Deokchul

Master Seo Deokchul became physically disabled due to a back injury when he was 6 years old. He learned Korean from his mother and started to compose children’s songs. He started working in the literary world when he published ‘Spring Letter’, a children’s song, in the magazine <Children> in 1925. He composed about 70 children’s songs including ‘Crooked Dungdeok’, ‘Flute’ and ‘Peach’. He left works that offered hope to the people during the Japanese occupation of Korea as a literary gem without losing his innocence and purity throughout his entire life.
