TipThe name “Taehwagang River” originated from when the Taehwasa Temple was built by the great monk Jajang of Silla in the 12th year of Queen Seondeok’s reign. The great monk Jajang received a divine revelation to build a 9-story pagoda in Hwangryongsa Temple in Gyeongju to prevent national disaster when he met Jiryong in Taehwaji, Shandong. It is said that Taehwasa Temple was built to repay the benefit.
